Dog during an absence left 100% alone

If you suspect your dog has separation anxiety have existing video footage of your dog during periods of absence, please share it. However, if no existing footage exists, do not attempt to elicit anxiety-related behaviors. It is unnecessary for the assessment, you can substitute an absence with footage of you approaching the front door, touching the doorknob, then briefly opening and closing the door without going out of it.

In order to ensure a precise and carefully tailored training approach, I have provided a list of required video footage of your dog.  Note: we do not want to induce stress, rehearse, or trigger the behaviors we are aiming to change. Your observations and descriptions of their reactions to isolation, aggression, absences, hold significant value, and we will take them into careful consideration during the assessment process.

While these footage requests may seem rather benign to you- it’s important that I view their daily behavior in its most organic and authentic sense so that I may provide an accurate assessment and prepare your dogs training plan, concept map and behavior change strategy meticulously. I can gather a tremendous amount of helpful information from the footage that I would be ordinarily unable to obtain in person or in the presence of a stranger who is not an integral part of the dog's daily life, habits and routine.

Use good judgment and ensure your dog's safety and comfort during the video recording process. If you do not feel comfortable or safe engaging in, allowing your dog to engage in any individual activity- DO NOT DO IT. Simply provide a short explanation as to why you feel it is unsafe, and it will be addressed during the assessment. We will never force your dog to do anything that makes them feel unsafe, why would we treat our humans with any less respect? 😉Safety and security are our #1 priority. There is always a safe route to any solution with your dog.

If you have any additional information or footage that you think might be useful, please feel free to share it as well.

You can send the videos to petparentlife@outlook.com, Attn: Erin. Or you can upload them to a google drive and send an access link to the above email address.
